Children’s religious jewelry is and has always been a very common and popular gift to bestow on a child at the time of their birth or during other rites of passage such as the Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation within the Catholic religion. However, Christianity is not the only religion to have children’s religious jewelry, as it is a popular accessory throughout the religions of the world. Children’s religious jewelry can be bought at the local jewelry store, at the local religious store, and even through catalogs and online. Such jewelry also comes in white gold, yellow gold, sterling silver, platinum, and many other metals.

Many times, at the time of birth a close relative such as the mother or father or even the grandparents will bestow upon the child a piece of jewelry that represents the family’s religious faith and beliefs. In many cases, it may be a necklace with a religious symbol on it that is meant to be set aside for the child until he or she is old enough to wear it. Other times, many parents pierce a baby girl’s ears, so that she cannot remember the pain later, and little religious earrings are worn. Some of the smallest religious rings are made for newborn babies. These are typically very simple with just a small symbol or engraving on it.
More and more children’s religious jewelry is growing as a popular gift for almost any occasion aside from just as a gift at birth. Children’s religious jewelry can be given for any reason including but not limited to a birthday, a special holiday, or even as a reward for an accomplishment. It just really depends on the family and how they want to praise their child with gifts and jewelry. In the Catholic religion, one of the most popular reasons to give a child religious jewelry is for the First Communion. Other popular events include the baptism, birthdays, and marriages.
Children’s religious jewelry can be bought at almost any religiously themed store as well as at many regular jewelry stores, online retailers, and religious jewelry catalogues. If you have any trouble finding any particular piece of children’s religious jewelry, you may want to ask your local jewelry store or religious store to help you order it. Or, if it is a really special piece, you may have more luck having it custom made just for your child.
It is possible to find children’s religious jewelry in a wide range of precious and non-precious metals. Today, children’s religious jewelry can be found in white gold (which is growing in popularity), yellow gold, sterling silver, platinum, titanium, stainless steel, and even bronze. Sometimes, non-precious metals are gold-plated or silver-plated. Depending on the design of the jewelry, some may even have small precious gemstones, stones, or crystals set within the design, making the piece even more special.
Some of the more popular forms of children’s religious jewelry include Catholic saint medals featuring the likeness and representations of many of the Catholic Patron saints. Many people believe that wearing or giving saint medals will bring good luck to the person who has it, so these have been popular for centuries. A child may be given a saint medal to wear on special occasions, or just to keep it in a very special place in his or her room.
