Guidelines For Choosing Safe Children’s Jewelry

If men and women both are allowed to accessorize then why not let children enjoy the fun of using jewelry. Since children see their parents getting dressed and accessorizing while mothers go for bracelets, necklaces, earrings which inspires young girls and father wearing watches, rings or chains that are inspiring for young boys.

But the most important thing before going for children’s jewelry shopping is make sure they are safe and do not harm your toddler. Many jewelries may look sparkly and tempting to you or your kids but their safety always comes first this way you can allow them to wear it while you are not around for instance to a friend’s party or school.

Apart from seeing jewelry for men and women now there is a separate area for children’s jewelry mostly launched by teenage celebrities who wants their little fans to feel special as well. There is always a section of children’s jewelries in a jewelry shop and are tempting for kids as they see their parents get dressed and accessorizing. Young girls want earrings, necklaces, bracelets and purses just like their moms and little boys go for watches, wallets, rings etc to dazzle up their look. There is absolutely no harm in having your child buy and wear jewelry as long as they are safe from every aspect. So the best way to purchase safe children’s jewelry is not to buy the ones that are made from any harmful material nor have sharp, pointy edges.

A recent study has shown that children’s rings usually contain lead which is harmful for the health and skin of the young one. A lead is mixed with other metals or materials to make it softer and bendy not allowing to break that easily. As kids engage in activities that they end up breaking their watch, ring, necklace pretty soon therefore this material is added to make them last long. But the properties of lead are not very eco friendly and can be damaging to a child’s skin or health. So now when you go baby jewelry shopping make sure it doesn’t have lead mixed in it. Other very important thing is that the jewelry should be curvy and smooth with no sharp edges or points that can either poke the child in the eye or bruise him anywhere.

Since we are narrowing our options we may have to compromise and do not buy everything in the jewelry shop but purchase something that you are comfortable with and believe can be worn to your child without you supervising him otherwise once you have bought them jewelry they will insist on wearing it everywhere and not all places can be the ones where you are around to administer them. Also many people think that using an adult jewelry for children will turn them into baby jewelry which is not true. Children’s jewelry is made of completely different kind of material where jewelry for adults is harder, edgier and sharper which is very unsafe for a kid. Anything that can turn into a choking hazard or a cause of bruising your child should be cut off the list as well.

You can take advices from the children’s jewelry shop and show your concerns for your child’s safety issues and I am sure they will guide you correctly. Other than that you can visit websites and find out things that mothers found out were either harmful or can be harmful to their children’s on forums and chat rooms. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
